One of the things that baffles us about right-wingers is their apparent lack of empathy.  But what if they're just as empathetic as everyone else?  What if they know something we don't?  What if they're actually tuned in, turned on, with it and happening?  What if poor people actually LIKED being poor, so all of the moves taken straight out of the Snidely Whiplash Playbook -- those backroom partnerships with big corporations that facilitate higher prices, less safety, and fewer jobs; and those cuts in spending for programs that keep low income people fed, housed, educated and healthy -- were actually aimed at giving low income people exactly what they want?  Boy, wouldn't we have egg on our faces!
