I read about a study that found there are certain personality types (loud, outgoing, friendly, not me) that actually prefer cubicles to closed offices.  This really surprised me.  But the study confirmed what I've always suspected:  people overall get less done in cubicles than they do in offices.  The loud, outgoing, friendly people spend too much time socializing, and the withdrawn, shy, socially awkward types spend too much feeling anxious or annoyed, and everyone else just has a hard time concentrating for lack of privacy.
