Nothing tells the old man “I love you and I’m sorry I never lived up to your expectations and you were right about that whole college thing, and I should’ve listened to you before I married Rhonda Lee, but how the hell was I supposed to know she’d be the town pump, and who the hell are you to judge me anyway when you’ve been married four times and where were you when I needed...” Anyway, nothing tells your Dad all that crap-you-want-to-say-to-him-but-can’t like a pair of socks. It’s the gift of enduring love.  Incidentally, I wonder why socks are called “socks.” Not knowing really socks big time.
