Fun fact: "The Christmas Song" (the one that starts "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire...") was written by Mel Torme and Bob Wells on a blistering hot summer day in 1944. Mel picked up a notebook on which Wells had scribbled a few lines of holiday hoo-ha in an attempt to keep his mind off the scorching heat. Mel thought it might make a marketable song, and forty minutes later, they had the complete composition -- music and lyrics -- that would become the most recorded Christmas song of all time. Written by a couple of Jewish dudes. In the summer. I'm pretty sure that this poem, about Mrs. Santa Claus, could also be set to music and become a wonderful new holiday standard.
